The scaffold and the noose symbolises death where Ryan McGregor (Callum's father) was almost hung and Callum who was killed. The scaffold represents death, decay and torture. The noose represents fair and chains because once the noose is placed around your neck there is no way your be let go so that is why its like being bound in chains.
The rose garden symbolises the potential for Callum and Sephys love to grow, in between the beautiful roses there are lots of dangerous thorns which could hurt them.
The next one is the small concrete room where Sephy was imprisoned after she was kidnapped. It symbolises a walnut because the walls are like a outer shell, the casing around the nut holding what's within it trapped and imprisoned. Sephy is the walnut inside the shell, not being able to leave of escaped until it is cracked open, the crack is like the door in the cell which is not ever left open.
